Is the p90x workout series good for weight loss or just muscle development?
2010 July 30
I am getting ready to start the p90x workout program and I am wondering… Is p90x effective for loosing weight, or is it more of a muscle development type workout program? I am interested in loosing 30lbs of fat. I am aware that my diet WILL play a role in this but am concerned that p90x is more of a program intended for muscle growth. Your thoughts would be much appreciated!! Thanks.

Its for both…… I lost 22 pounds and gained some good muscle in 90 days….P90X will give you a diet plan to follow and it changes every 30 days with the exercise program……..>
Simply put….It works……..>
Remember muscle burns fat……….Dont be afraid of it….Keep pushing play and bring it…….>
It is more for losing weight, and getting much more tone. It’s based around muscle confusion, so do put on some muscle mass, but you do not exactly get huge. For the most part, people do it to get into their peak optimal fitness

Yeah it is definitely something that will do both if you want, but there are a few "versions" of P90x you can do to tailor it to your want. So if you want to gain muscle, you can pick that path and if you want to lose weight you can choose that. It’s a very customizable program for both fitness goals and fitness levels.
The absolute key to P90x (and any workout for that matter) is your diet. If you follow the diet plan and take some basic supplements you will achieve far greater success than if you just worked out but did not eat as "clean" as you should.

It’s great you have decided to commit to your weight loss by using P90X! The program is designed for weight loss and muscle development. There are three focuses you can choose from when starting P90X; Classic, Lean, and Doubles. I chose the Lean since I wanted to focus on cardio more to lose pounds. I’ve lost 8lbs so far and just started in May. I am a runner and I use P90X in coordination with my running schedule and it has most definitely helped tremendously in leg strength and endurance. You may want to take a look at the website to get more understanding of each of the three focuses and figure out which one you would rather.
